H1B to H4 queries

I’m in India and I’ve approved H1B petition. Due to some personal reasons, I resigned my job.My husband is currently holding H1B visa and working in US. Now, I m looking for options to travel in H4 visa.

Please can someone direct me with the below questions:

1. How to get H4 visa when I have active H1b petition? And how long will it take?
2. Once after my travel with H4, if I get a job can I switch from H4 to H1B? What is the process for that?

How to get H4 visa when I have active H1b petition? And how long will it take?

You will apply as H4 dependent to the primary H1B holder. Your H1B petition will have no bearing on your H4 visa application.

Once after my travel with H4, if I get a job can I switch from H4 to H1B? What is the process for that?

Process for COS will be handled by your H1B employer. They will file a new cap-exempt H1B along with change of status from H4 to H1B.
