H4 / H4EAD Expiry Date more than Primary H1B

Hi @Anil.Gupta

My H1B extension (I-140 approved) was approved by USCIS earlier in Jan 2020 until Dec 31, 2020.

My wife’s H4 extension and new H4-EAD were also filed at the same time. After months of follow up and expedite it was finally approved last week.

We received the approval noticed today for H4 and H4-EAD and both have a expiry date of Dec 26, 2022. The attached I-94s also have the same end date.

This brings a question on when we extend again -

  • When my H1B is extended again, do we NOT need to extend H4 and H4 EAD again? Only H1B extension suffices and the others remain valid.
    Or
  • Do we have to extend only H1B and H4 and dont need to file the EAD extension again? Assuming the EAD remains valid and only the primary H1B and H4 extensions are needed.

Thanks,
Shreeram

You can only file H1B extension in Dec 2020.

file H4 and H4 EAD extensions 180 days before their expiry.
