Passport Renewal while H1B is processing

Hi Anil/Kalpesh,

My H1B Application is submitted and it’s in processing for this year. My passport is about to expire in Dec 2022.So I would like to renewal by this May end.
Can i proceed with renewal as my h1b is processing with my old passport or do i need to go for renewal after getting H1B Approval?

Could you please confirm me?
