Place of birth: JAUNPUR
State: UTTAR PRADESH
District: something

And in preview it showed: JAUNPUR, UTTAR PRADESH

INDORE MADHYA PRADESH is correct one.

Put Place of Birth only Chennai and select state Tamilnadu then in final page it will show as “CHENNAI, TAMILNADU” that will match to your passport.

Hello Neeraj,
I am in a similar situation as I have only the city entered in my current passport but not the state. I have emailed ckgs and it has been more than 48 hrs. Hopefully they will respond back. Did you have to prepare any more documents to get the state added ?

Also I have only my parents first name in my current form. But surname is asked in the application form and then I got a message saying parents name does not match . Do you know how to get this resolved ?

@Anil_Gupta @neeraj_Shrivastava I have emailed to both email ids consulate and the general one on Thursday and again on Monday . I am yet to get a response. any other suggestions ?

For those who have been able to resolve this issue by contacting CKGS, could you please tell the forum if they asked for documentary proof. My current place of birth on my passport reads ‘BILASPUR CG’ whereas the NRI application reads ‘BILASPUR, CHHATTISGARH’. There is no way to obtain a place of birth that looks like my current passport using the drop down menu. And the CKGS phone lines are not working because of Covid.

i have place of birth in current passport as Meerut U P but while filling NRI form i typed Meerut than selected state as Uttar Pradesh

it comes out to be MEERUT, UTTARPRADESH is it correct? or do i need to contact ckgs?

There are many questions on this thread, unfortunately, not a lot of answers!

Regarding my mismatch, current passport says BILASPUR CG, and the new passport form only allows for BILASPUR, CHHATTISGARH.

I contacted CKGS, and they said the mismatch is not a problem. My application, sent to the Atlanta consulate, has already been verified and is now on the Police verification stage.

I just wanted this post out because it would have eased my nerves if I had seen something like this myself two weeks ago!

EDIT: Even in the current application of mine, that is verified by CKGS, my place of birth was listed as BILASPUR CG on the CKGS form which is filled first, and BILASPUR, CHHATTISGARH on the Indian government NRI form which comes later. CKGS informed me that it won’t be a problem via emails. I’ll make another edit if I encounter a problem.

I am having similar issue, trying to find out the options to change the place of birth.
In my old passport, the place of birth is updated with DISTRICT, STATE instead of VILLAGE, STATE.

I am trying to update it with VILLAGE, STATE. I knew, with CKGS, it is possible to change the place of birth by visiting the CKGS center. Now with VFS Global, i am not sure what to do and due to COVID-19 there are no appointments available.

Does anyone know the process to update the place of birth with new process?
