Printable Address Dilemma

Dear Friends,

My current passport has my Indian Address. The Indian address proof(Aadhar Card) matches the address on my current passport. However when I try to fill the application on the Indian government website I am unable to accommodate the exact address in printable address due to space constraint.
Now I am in dilemma if I should give my US address as printable address, and Indian address as other address.
My question: Is there any advantage or disadvantage of mentioning US address over Indian address as the printable address? Does police verification happen in both the cases?
Any input highly appreciated.

I gave my US address as printable address, and Indian address as other address. I did have a police verification. They called my brother on his mobile, so gave them the documents(copy of aadhar, old passport). I applied in Tatkal, got my passport in 3 weeks.
