I am writing to seek your assistance regarding an issue with my I-94 record, which I encountered after a recent trip.
Here are the details of my situation:
-
I entered the U.S. on June 2, 2024, at Houston (IAH) on an H-4 visa, after obtaining my visa stamp (valid till November 27th 2025) from India (my country of citizenship).
-
At the time of entry, I was issued an I-94 valid until September 28, 2024, to match the expiration of my passport.
-
After arriving in Houston, I renewed my passport and contacted CBP to inquire about the process to extend my I-94. I was advised to travel outside the U.S. and re-enter to obtain a new I-94.
-
I departed the U.S. via a cruise from Galveston, TX on September 26, 2024, and was in Cozumel, Mexico on September 28, 2024, the date my I-94 expired.
-
Upon returning to the U.S. on September 30, 2024, via Galveston, I requested a new I-94. However, the CBP officer at the port was unable to issue one at that time.
Additionally, when I review my I-94 travel history online, I see a record of my arrival on September 30, 2024, but there is no record of my departure from Galveston on September 26, 2024, and my I-94 is still not updated.
I am unsure how to resolve this situation and would greatly appreciate any guidance you could provide regarding the necessary next steps to update my I-94 and rectify my status.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.
