Clarification on H-4 EAD Application Type (Initial vs. Renewal)

I previously held an H-4 EAD, which expired five years ago. I am currently maintaining valid H-4 dependent status and would like to reapply for the H-4 EAD. My spouse is now employed with a new employer and holds a valid I-797 along with an approved I-140.

While completing Form I-765, could you please confirm whether I should select “Initial permission to accept employment” or “Renewal of permission to accept employment” as the reason for applying?

Thanks Anil. Choosing initial vs renewal, would it affect the timeline or RFE possibilities?

No. Choosing initial or renewal will not give RFE. No one knows how they following the timeline if we select new or renewal. But standalone application(without h4) taking 6-12 months.
