Damaged Passport

My passport is NOT damaged beyond recognition. Instead a 50% of the Binding threads came off, but the other 50% is intact. And the rest of the passport is in Mint condition (but it is also expired 3 weeks ago), I don’t even know how did the binding damaged. Can I apply for Tatkaal, because on the website it says if it is “Damaged beyond recognition” only then it is not eligible for Tatkaal.

Please help

You can try but if they reject it, they will deduct some fee and then ask you to re-apply with full fee again.

Firstly, thanks a lot for the response. So if I apply for Damaged Passport application through Tatkaal and if they reject it, its not automatically processed as Regular? Instead they will send back the application and I have to re-apply through Regular?

This info is really important for me as I can’t afford to delay few more days of the package going to VFS–>Embassy–>rejected for being Tatkaal -->sent back to VFS → me receiving the package back from VFS → and re-applying using “REGULAR” category.

Could you please help me with your valuable suggestion, so if a Tatkaal application is rejected for the “Passport not eligible for Tatkaal”, it not automatically processed for regualar application, instead it is sent back and we have to re-apply?

Thanks again for your response bro. It really helped me understand the current situation I’m in.

Rejected application is sent back along with passport and other docs. You will have to reapply.
