EB-2 NIW application through an external lawyer

Hi, I’m trying to make a difficult decision whether I want to apply through EB-2 NIW? I currently have 3 years left on H1B visa. And the lawyer is charging me 11K. Is this typical?

Fees seems normal to me.

Yes, a lawyer charging $11,000 for an EB-2 NIW case is pretty typical, especially if it includes both the I-140 petition and later the green card (I-485) filing. The EB-2 NIW is a good option if you have an advanced degree or special skills and your work benefits the U.S., because you don’t need employer sponsorship. Since you still have 3 years left on your H1B, you have time to plan and decide carefully—just make sure the lawyer has experience with NIW cases and gives you honest feedback on your chances.
