Eligible for H1B dropbox but H4 dependent not eligible

Hello,

I am currently trying to book appointments for myself (H1B) and my wife (H4). I am eligible for dropbox however my wife is not since it will be a fresh H4 for her. In this case, should we

  1. Book separate appointments by creating 2 separate profiles on visa scheduling portal? OR
  2. Add her as a dependent under my own single profile on the visa scheduling portal?

Also, the current H1B stamp in my passport is expired but I do have a valid I-797. If I go for option 1, will she require a valid H1B stamp to show during the visa interview or would the valid I-797 suffice?

I suggest creating separate profiles as you are eligible to drop documents while she would need to appear for interview.

You will need to submit H1B visa stamp (if you are exiting US and applying for H1B visa stamp) with H4 visa application.
