Form 80 Australian student visa Question number 9

Hello I would really appreciate any experts guidance

I’m currently filling out Form 80 for my Australian student visa and stumbled upon these questions:

Have you ever had a different date of birth?
Have you been known by any other names?

My Situation (Simplified & Privacy-Safe):

  • Current Passport (2022):

    • Name: Mohammad Khan :white_check_mark:
    • DOB: 15 Jan 2000 :white_check_mark:
    • Parents’ names: Full Correct Names :white_check_mark:
  • Old Passport (2017):

    • Name Error: Mohammed Khan (missing “a”) :x:
    • DOB Error: 16 Jan 2000 (1 day off) :x:
    • Parents’ names: Shortened/Incorrect Versions :x:

Problems I’m Facing:

  1. Should I declare these tiny errors?
    • how do i declare them if i need to.
    • They’re fixed now, but I don’t want to hide anything.
  2. Will this trigger extra scrutiny?
    • It was just clerical mistakes (no fraud!)

ALL MY CURRENT DOCUMENTS ARE ACCORDING TO MY CURRENT PASSPORT AND CORRECT***

I appreciate your help

Why do you think date of birth mismatch is a tiny error?

An error is an error.
Name missing ‘a’ could be explained as its a non-english word but date of birth should be declared and explained.

hopefully I can help a bit.

For Question 9 on Form 80 (the “Proposed travel” section), I kept it pretty straightforward. Since I was applying for a student visa, I just listed the intended date I expected to arrive in Australia and marked the purpose as “study”.

Even if your flights aren’t booked yet, it’s okay to put an approximate date — they understand that plans can shift. I just made sure it matched roughly with the start of my course (plus a couple of weeks buffer).

It doesn’t have to be super detailed — something like:

  • Proposed date of arrival: 15 July 2025 (or whatever applies to you)
  • Purpose: Study (or “commencement of university course” if you want to sound a bit more formal)

Hope that helps! I know these forms can feel a bit intense but you’re not alone — good luck with your application!
