H1 approved h4 extension and h4 ead pending

My spouse h1 extension approved.We filed h1 extension +H4 extension and h4 ead together on Nov 2024 but I hadn’t got h4 ead and extension.My ead will expire in May 2025 .What are my options?

H4 EAD can work while extension pending & card expired if H4 i94 is valid. Automatic 540-day extension allowed by USCIS. L2 does not need EAD to work.

Ideal option now a days is to travel to home country, get H4 stamped based on spouse H1 approval, come back US (you will get new I-94) and file H4 EAD. you can work on H4 EAD receipt with Valid I-94

I have heard u can go to is border like Canada or Mexico and come back ?Can we travel with expired expired visa

They will NOT issue a new i94 with an expired visa in the passport.

If I get my i94 updated based on i797 approval by crossing border and come back on old valid visa stamping, do I need to apply for h4 visa extension again and interfile h4EAD ?

Please suggest.

Once you get extended H4 i94, there is no need to file H4 extension.

So my pending h4 application will be abandoned and I need to file H4 EAD again upon return, right ?
