H1B - 221g and H4

Hi,

I had my H1B interview recently and received 221g for administrative processing. I also want to apply for H4 visa as my husband has valid H1B

  1. Can I apply for H4 while 221g is in process.
  2. If so, after receiving H4 and visiting US, if I withdraw 221g, will my I797 be valid and can I transfer H1B after withdrawing 221g

It depends on what kind of form 221g it is.

If it is related to H1B job and not any national security issue, then you can apply H4 visa.

Once in the USA on H4, you can file H4 to H1B change of status.
