Can I join new employer on receipt notice before H1B approval?

  • Current employer: XYZ, laid off from there, but salary runs until October 15th

  • New employer: ABC, filed transfer on Sept 25th

  • Start date offered: Oct 6

  • Petition status: waiting for approval

Question:
Is it safe to join on receipt, or should I wait until approval or should I join only after my last working day from current company?
