I am seeking clarification regarding a name discrepancy on my spouse’s immigration documents for an upcoming H1B/H4 group appointment.
Due to the absence of a surname on the passport, the standard practice was adopted:
- Prior Documents (F1, I-20, etc.): Given Name: [Actual Name], Last Name: LNU.
However, USCIS has processed the recent H4/H4 EAD (I-797) using an alternative convention, stating that the surname field cannot be blank:
- H4/H4 EAD (I-797): Given Name: ‘No Name Given’, Last Name: [Actual Name].
The DS-160 form has been submitted using the original ‘LNU’ convention. Considering the conflicting formats across the supporting documents and the new USCIS-issued I-797, is an amendment necessary for the name fields on the DS-160?
