H1b petition stuck with security check

Hello,

My H1b Change of Status (COS) petition is pending with Vermont Service Center for more than 5 months. 10 days back my employer reached out to USCIS regarding the delay in processing and they said that its due to pending security checks.
This is very frustrating and nervous time because my current visa is expiring soon and we don’t know what we can do in this case.
Could anyone please pour their suggestions? I saw there was a post in 2019 but after that I can’t find any new post. Since its morethan 5 year old post so asking again.

You can stay in the US while your COS is pending even when your visa/status expires.

Security checks are normal and usually take more than 6 months.

Do not worry. You will get it soon.

Thank you so much for your positive comment and hope.

I am living with my family here (they are on dependent visa) so in that case, would they also be able to stay here? I applied H4 for them with my H1b petition.

Also, do you know anyone in current period who is going through the same security check? After how long did they hear anything about the security check?
