H1B to H4 Status Change and Future H1B Sponsorship

Hello Everyone,

My wife, currently on an H1B visa, is considering changing her status to H4 due to some medical reasons. Her H1B was approved for three years in October 2023, and she has been working with her current employer for the past year.

I have a couple of questions regarding this:

  1. If she switches to H4 (as a dependent of my H1B), would she be able to change her status back to H1B after 6 months or a year, provided she finds an employer willing to sponsor her?
  2. If the answer to the first question is yes, would she need to go through the H1B lottery process again?
