H4 EAD spouse and H4 child travel to India and stamping without Primary Applicant (H1). Any issues?

Hello,

I’m on H1B and spouse on H4 + EAD and working.

Spouse and child (H4) planning to go to India in May/June and requires stamping (Dropbox). Current my H1 and spouse’s H4 visa stamping expires in Jun '25. Recently I have changed my job, so have a new I-797A and it’s valid till July 2027.

  1. Can spouse and child go for H4 visa stamping without primary applicant (H1). Does this creates any issue ?
  2. I may need/force to change job , so if job change happens before spouse travel to India and H4 stamping, What actions do I need to take? Submitting a new DS-160 is sufficient or anything additional? Any issues in changing job before stamping?

Seeing mixed responses in several forums, so if anyone who has done stamping like this recently, please share your experience. It would be really greatful. Thank you!!!

  1. Spouse and child can go for H4 visa stamping without H1B. No issues.
  2. H4 can take the copy of most recent H1B i797 approval and submit with dropbox.
