H4-EAD validity after laid off and then H1B transferred to a new employer

I have few questions related to H4-EAD validity after laid off by my previous employer.

My spouse got her approved H4-EAD (expires on 05/2026) just one month prior to my job loss, where I got laid off from my previous employer. After that within 60 days of grace period, I got a new job and H1B transfer had initiated on the 50th day of the grace period by a new employer. After 7 months, my H1B transfer by the new employer got approved.

Now I have multiple questions raised in my mind. Below are those.

Is that H4-EAD (based on my previous H1B approval through my previous employer) still valid now?

Can my spouse work using this H4-EAD (expires on 05/2026) legally?

OR

Do I need to apply the H4-EAD renewal based on my current H1B approval from the new employer ?

Please suggest. Thank you!

H4 EAD stays valid and can be used as long as the H4 status has been maintained.

Thank you so much, Mr. Anil for your input on this.

Just wanted to verify one more thing related to this. In my case, there were various situations raised such as below

  1. Laid off from job first.
  2. Got job within 60 day grace period.
  3. Next H1B transfer initiated within that 60 day grace period.
  4. H1B transfer remained pending for 7 months (I was working on the new H1B receipt no)
  5. Next H1B transfer got approved after 7 months through my new employer.

As I had gone through all these above situations, I wanted to check if there was any impact / discontinuation on my spouse’s H4 status.
Please provide your input on this. Thank you!
