H4 Minor Visa stamping queryChild

Hi All,
I have a few questions regarding my daughter’s H4 visa stamping. She is my H4 dependent, 16 years old, and will be traveling to India after 8 years.

  1. Would she be eligible for Dropbox?
  2. Does an H4 child require both parents to have valid visa stamps in order to appear for the interview?

To provide some context:

  • I have already received my visa stamping and am currently in the U.S.
  • My husband, who is also on H1B, is planning to travel with my daughter and get his visa stamped at the same time.

Given this situation:

  • What would be the best approach? Should they apply as individuals or as a family unit?
  • If my husband encounters any issues with his visa, would that affect my daughter’s H4 visa, considering she is my dependent?

I would appreciate your guidance on the best course of action.
Thanks

You daughter should be able to get her H4 visa if she is using your H1B.

Your H1B visa stamp copy will be required.

Separate appointments are okay for your child and their father.

Thank you Anil,
is there any post or link where i can find the questions/required docs needed for a H4 Minor visa stamping in India.

Thanks again for always helping

Hi Anil,

While filling out my daughter’s form, I came across a query and would appreciate your advice. Apologies if this seems like a basic question: I just want to make sure all my doubts are cleared.

My 16-year-old daughter, who is on H4, will be going for visa stamping along with her father, who is going for his H1B stamping. However, they currently have separate appointments and will be appearing individually.

In this case:

  1. If the visa officer asks my daughter whether she came alone or if someone accompanied her, what would be the appropriate way for her to respond?
  2. When they enter the consulate, should they go in together or separately since their appointments are separate?
  3. In your experience, what is the best approach: attending the visa interview together as a family or as separate individuals?

Thank you for your guidance.

If their appointment slots are separate, embassy people will guide them and let them enter based on their appointment time.

You child can say that father has appointment at separate time.

No need to panic or get worried. You will be fine. Just stay calm.

All the best.

Thank you so much Anil
