H4 to F1 COS: Anticipated start date on I539

Hi,

I am in process of doing COS from H4 to F1 for my son. He is already in US and admitted to the university continuing his 2nd Semester.

As per SEVIS form, the program start date is in August 2026 and the earliest date 30 days before the program start date.

I am on H1B and have the petition valid until 2027. I have to relocate to another country on May 1st 2026.

Question - can I request the anticipated start date for my son as May 1 2026 and can I leave the country on May 1st (considering the program start date is in August 26)?

I do not think you call apply the start date that early if the program start date is in Aug 2026.
