H4 visa extension filing query

Hi @anil_am22 I have an H-1B visa stamped in my passport that is valid until October 2025, and my dependents have H-4 visas with the same expiration date. I recently changed employers and received an approved I-797 with a validity period until Dec 2026. My question is whether I need to file for an H-4 visa extension for my dependents now or if it can be done next year, around August 2025, when their visas are closer to expiring. Please guide me.

Each time an H-1 holder changes jobs, the H-4 holders are NOT required to change their H-4, as long as the H-4 status (I-94) or visa is still valid.

I agree with @Diwedy

You can wait until it is time to renew H4 visa which is usually 6 months before H4 i94 expiry.

H4 is tied to H1B primary status and not the H1B employer.
