How to update passport number on OCI card?

Hello,
My uncle is a US citizen since 1990s. He got his OCI card almost a decade ago. Since then, his US passport was renewed.

How can one update his new passport number on the OCI?

Does he need to apply for a new OCI card altogether?

PS. Some airlines are a pain my seeking the old passport to be handy (which is liated on OCI) while travel inspite it not being a mandatory item by GOI.

Great. But my uncle was denied boarding ny Qatar airlines for not carrying his expired passport.
So if the oci card is not re issued does he need to carry old passport all times?
