Hello Amit, have valid H1B visa until august 12 2025 and an I-797A extention approved until Aug 12 2028. when i went to take latest i-94 records from i-94 website it still shows me August 12, 2025 as admit until date and not the I-797A approval date. Past weekend we went to a closed loop cruise ship from Galvesnton to Cozumel . after coming back the latest I-94 date mentioned as enetered on August 4th and admint until Aug 12 2025 and not 2028. so went to deferred inspection office to make the correction to make sure that the date is extened until 2028. the officer gave feedback as “The officer explained that the I-94 record on the CBP website—or the most recent I-94—will continue to reflect the date stamped on my visa, even after the approval notice.He also clarified that the USCIS notice takes effect starting August 12th, as indicated by the I-94 information on the I-797A document. Since the I-797A is issued by USCIS and not CBP, the I-94 dates on that document remain valid.”
How to get this fixed ? any paper work that can be done or we need redo the entire extension process again?
Just wanted to share an update and what I did to resolve the date issue.
Most of the deferred inspection sites in Texas only handle cases in person. I visited twice, and both times the CBP officer verbally confirmed that I didn’t need to worry about it.
Next, I tried reaching out via email to sites in California, New York, and a few others—unfortunately, no response or resolution.
Finally, I started calling various deferred inspection sites directly. The team at JFK Airport was able to help over the phone. I provided my I-797A case number, and within a minute, they resolved the issue for me and my family members.
Everything is now aligned—CBP records match the I-797A dates.
Hello, Just want to get some guidance on this as I’m in same situation. Recently went on cruise from Galveston to Cozumel. My i94 entry date was updated but admit until date was given with my old i797 even though I have provided new i797. Emailed CBP office but didn’t receive any response. Planning to visit CBP office in person(Not sure if it helps based on your experience). While searching for some guidance on similar situations I came across your post and thought to try calling JFK before I walk into CBP office and see if that helps in my situation. Did they ask any additional details other than valid new i797, passport details and i94? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
