Passport renewal - Adding spouse name; Surname change

Hi @Diwedy,

I am applying for passport renewal and wanted to ask que regarding - adding spouse name

  • I will be submitting marriage certificate for this but it reflects my new surname so do i need to select “surname” under change in existing personal particulars while filling govt application form?

  • Can i still keep the same surname?

  • Do i need to provide spouse passport copy as well?

  • Yes, you can select surname change
  • Since marriage certificate shows new surname it becomes tricky. They may/may not ask reason for not changing as per doc. You can give it a shot. It may or may not go through, though.
  • Yes, it’s advisable to send self-attested spouse’s passport copy if s/he has already added you name in the passport.
