My passport renewal application has been pending at the NY embassy since Dec 20th, 2023. I got an email from VFS on Dec 20th, 2023 stating that my passport renewal application has been sent to NY embassy for review and it has been pending since then. The only tracking status I see on both VFS and India govt passport site is “Passport is under review at the Indian embassy/consulate” and no update since then. I did not get any seperate email requesting for any other docs or mentioning that the police verification has been triggered or started. I read somewhere that the renewal timeline is usually 6 to 8 weeks and mine is more than 6 weeks now (37 business days since Jan 1st, 2024). Is anyone in the same boat or has got passport sucessfully renewed recently with the NY embassy? Trying to understand what is the exact timeline currently and when should I go ahead and contact the embassy about it ?
