What is the current passport renewal timeline at houston consulate.

Can someone share their journey?

I sent on Dec 28th, in Normal processing, no changes to any of the details. Missed to send the appearance change affidavit. So sent it to VFS on Jan 3rd.
Jan 9th: it showed up on the Govt portal with status “Passport application along with fee details have been received. The same is under processing at the Embassy/Consulate”
Jan 17: status is same “Passport application along with fee details have been received. The same is under processing at the Embassy/Consulate”

What about you?

do you mind sharing if you remember, when was your status as:

“Passport application along with fee details have been received. The same is under processing at the Embassy/Consulate”

.
And when it updated to next step/status like:

“Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate”

And Police verification happened in India (in case applicable)? or alteast did you got the email notification for police verification.

And is this first time passport renewal in USA?

Passport renewal timeline - houston 2024

Dec 26 - application received by houston consulate
Dec 27 - application proceesed at mission and is in transit to embassy/consulate

—-indian website tracking

Dec 27 - jan 13 Application received with fee details and is under review for the same
Jan 13 - application is under review with embassy
Jan 17 - passport printed and will deliver shortly
Jan 18 - passport printed and being forwarded to Embassy/consulate

You need to wait for few days. Once the application goes under review, it moves very fast.
Approx processing time 3-4 weeks

This is insane, they took 2.5 weeks to start the process, at Consulate!!

My latest is from yesterday

and if I go by the link, then it will take 11 more days (Sep 16 → Sep 28 dates from the link). this is still a long way to go.

What are you using to track the passport status ? It looks like some kind of API output.
