Hi, I applied for my passport renewal at the Chicago consulate before it expired. After a few weeks, the portal said “Print has been initiated” and I received my new passport in the mail. In parallel, I also received an email saying Police Verification has been initiated.
My father went to the Police Station with my documents however they said it was the incorrect thana and my file no. (USXXX…) was being sent back. Turns out, even though my Indian address is in District X, it belongs to a Police Station in District Y (they said it’s a common mistake) but they don’t know what happens after it’s sent back. Any suggestions on what I should do? Can the head office for the Police thana approve it? If yes, then my father can visit them. He has requested this incorrect police station send my file to the correct one but they said it was not possible
