Question about H4 start date when transferring from H1b to H4

Hello,

I’ve a few questions around H1b to H4 transfer. Any help is appreciated.

  1. When submitting the H4 application, I requested a change of status date of January 2, 2025. Since that date has already passed and the application status has not been updated in the USCIS portal, do I need to provide a new start date for H4, or will USCIS assign one?

  2. If I quit my job on the day I receive my h4 approval on USCIS portal , would that day be considered as legal working day?

  3. Does the approval date be likely the same day when I see “Approved” status in USCIS portal or will it be the date mentioned in the hard receipt I-539?

Usually, it is better to stop working on the requested ‘start date’ for H4 application.
