Question related to start date on approved H1B

Hello All,

My new employer A (i started working with them from March 18th 2024) had filed H1B in normal mode somewhere in second week of March 2024. By then, receipt date on I-797C was 03/15/2024.

Last week, i have upgraded the processing to premium and check for premium processing was received by USCIS on July 19th 2024 and finally on July 23rd, my petition got approved.

My attorney sent me the details of H1B approval as provided below:

Beneficiary Country of Citizenship: IND
Classification Sought: H1B
Starting Validity Date: 05/18/2024
Ending Validity Date: 02/27/2027

question: why is the starting validity date is stating 05/18/2014 instead of 03/15/2024? is this a mistake from USCIS or is this how it works with USCIS when converted to Premium from normal processing? Please advise

Receipt date and requested start date are two different dates.

On your form I-129 (H1B), check with your employer if they filled the start date as 5/18.

If not, then it is a mistake from USCIS and this can be corrected if you have a gap between 3/18 and 5/18.
