Taxpayer filed 2018 & 2019 as a non-resident alien but is currently resident alien

I have a question about the stimulus check for non-resident aliens. If a taxpayer has filed 2018 and 2019 as a non-resident alien but is currently a resident alien (since January 1 2020), will they be eligible for the stimulus check? In other words, is the residency status that matters that of 2019 or of 2020? Thanks

You should pass the substantial presence test to be eligible for a check.

Also, if you have already filed the 2019 tax return as resident alien, you may be eligible. The full set of rules will be shared by IRS soon.

In you case, you will not be eligible as you filed 2019 return also as ‘non-resident’.
