Travel to INDIA with valid H1B visa and future I-797 Approval copy. What happens to I-94

Hello,

I am on H1B with my existing H1B Visa valid until Oct 2024 (in passport). My Employer filed for my H1B extension and it got Approved (I-797A approval from Nov 1, 2024 through Oct 31, 2027).

I am planning to travel to INDIA for 2 weeks from Sept 1-15 of 2024. What happens to my I-94 in this case?

Could you please me know If you encountered similar scenario?

You can show the new approved H1B i797 at the time of entry to the US.

They should issue an extended i94 at that time. Make sure that they do otherwise, you will have to file a new H1B extension.

Thank you so much for the info Anil. I have my I-94 updated to 3 years (max) by CBP Officer.
