When to go for h1b extension stamping

Hello Everyone - My H1B Visa Stamp Expired in January, but i94 is valid until May.

My H1B extension got approved and validity starts in May, a day after my current i94 expiry

If i go to India in March for visa renewal , Will i be able to to come back in April ? or will consulate will only give visa starting from May as per new approval ?

Sorry if this is very basic question,this is my first extension. For some reason i was thinking they will give visa from March as old i797 is still valid until May

I don’t want t be stuck in India for 2 months. please let me know.

They should give visa date based on new i797 approval dates.

Its better that you travel in May if you want to be on safe side.

Sometimes, they fill the gap too. So, no need to worry.
