Work in India during 221g for different employer

Hi,

I am in India right now and was issued 221g. So admin processing is going on and this will take a while. Now coming to actual question. I am with employer A working for a fintech client. Unfortunately fintech client doesnt allow working from India even for a single day so am right now on unpaid leaves with employer A. Atleast at this moment employer A and client X said they will wait for me to return back.

Question is, I am thinking to find a job in india as a backup plan. Can i work in india on indian payroll for a different employer until visa is issued? Is it legal? After visa is issued, plan is to resign indian employer and go to US provided the job still exists.

You can work in India for any employer.

The H1B rules come into play only when you are physically in US.

I don’t see any issue.
