No, it was renewed in India. This is my first time. According to the link where we start our application passport has been printed and is ready for courier. I assume that means I should have it tomorrow or day after
I agree, this whole thing of making people pay to call on 1-800 is a big scam. This is why I can never trust Indian government to do the right thing for its citizens
And think about the amount of personal information that this company is holding. The Indian government babus do not seem to know how dangerous this could be. They have no control over the data storage by this company either. They just want people to get naked to this company in terms of personal data exposure. No word on how it is being safeguarded from ID theft. No clues where their servers are located and how long it is stored and used.
Hello, Did you figure this out -same thing happened to me
I got this email from VFS today.
We have “Recieved” your Application however we are unable to proceed with the application due to the following reasons:
Photograph : Please submit two new RECENT good quality photographs. An attire should be dark, background light, natural lightning. Follow the requirements from the VFS web page. You photo was not acceptable.
Incomplete Applications: Please complete your application within 7 calendar days by sending “the above listed missing documents along with a printout of this email” to VFS India Consular Application Centre where you had initially submitted your application. You will need to use your own “Pre-paid” label to send the missing documents. Failure to complete your application as per the stipulated timeframe will result in returning your application unprocessed.
I need your kind help in answering these two questions for me:
-
What does the sentence : “…You will need to use your own “Pre-paid” label to send the missing documents…”. Does that just mean I have to pay for shipping the documents ? If so its a poor choice of words.
-
Where do people get there photos taken in the US - I got my photos at CVS and they were good and met all the requirements as far as I could tell. I have used CVS passport photos for many other official applications and they worked just fine. These VFS folks seem to be nitpicky.
Thanks everyone for their help.
Hey, which courier option did you choose? VFS prepaid shipping or your own shipping? If you selected your own shipping then it goes without saying that you need to send a prepaod return label for VFS to send your Passport back to you. They are not going to buy shipping for you.
Second, I received my Passport from NYC consulate and I used CVS photo which came out extremely dark and absolutely poor and now I am breaking my head trying to get it fixed, so as a preventive measure I would suggest you spend some more money and get your Passport photos from a professional photograhpher. Our consulate seems to have no sense of QC and they just print whatever photo you give!
yes, you will need to send the new documents (2 in my case) via UPS.
Once received they will process your passport.
Good luck.
Thank you for you reply.
I chose the VFS shipping option which was FEDEX. It automatically generated two -labels, one which I sent to them the other was return shipping label which I included inside. I will not be able to use the VFS label again coz it was already used to ship the application and documents the first time. Now I need to send new photos to them again as per their request. So, I am just guessing that I have to just send them the photos - as the auto generated prepaid return label was included in the original application I sent them.
what do you think?
Ok, thank you for your reply. I was confused because it said “pre-paid” (I already sent them the prepaid return label along with the original application). Of course I will pay for shipping myself to send them the secondary documents (in my case, photos).
Totally agreed…Paid $100 so far for customer support and no proper response yet…Applied thro Taktal for my deependents and both applications are stuck and no response more than a month…
Of source, good luck.
Below is the email I had got from VFS support on how to submit documents
Use UPS to send your docs along with a cover letter
I received my renewed passport on Jan 1st.
Hi Guys, anyone knows who can i contact for faster processing of my sons passport application with NY consulate? I did apply my application in tatkal on 24th Nov to VFS and finally it went to consulate on 22nd Dec and still its in the same status since 22nd “Passport application along with fee details have been received. The same is under processing at the Embassy/Consulate.”. I did submit the forms to PRAMIT and did called multiple times to PRAMIT helpline and till now no response. My sons passport is expiring on 11th Jan 2021. Appreciate your help
create new PRAMIT they should response in 1-2 days. usually consulate processing time is very quick (with in week). since it is holiday week you submitted you can expect some delay…
if the same status Passport Seva at Indian Embassies and Consulates for more than week then something must be with deferred document. The consulate might have sent back the packet to VFS… . i ran into the same issue. VFS, Consulate site will not show any update on missing documents… you need to follow-up through PRAMIT to make sure it is pending at their side or VFS side ?
ok thanks will raise a PRAMIT request again to check
Hi All,
I am in same boat as other, where VFS SFO has sent email yesterday evening stating “We have “Received” your Application. Your document is dispatched via courier.”, but I am not able to track the shipment with the FedEx shipping label.
How many days does it take for Fedex to pickup the shipment ?
What the crap. The VFS generated labels are “Fedex”
I have been in the same situation. Nothing is working. Mails to VFS comes with a standard response of “issue being escalated”, call to VFS is just waste of time and money with no solution, raised few times on PRAMIT no response, call to embassy - no response. Tatkal is claimed to be processed in 1-3 days as per NY Indian consular site and are charged additional 150$, but it’s been months. NY embassy has some institutional chronic problems of not getting providing basic citizen service and this might have been compounded by the COVID crisis. It’s a tough time with COVID, but not responding to PRAMIT requests or not picking up calls is unexplainable even in the current situation. The whole experience gives us a glimpse of Indian red tapism even to get an ordinary passport. Unfortunately, if you reach to GOI grieval addressal system, I doubt you would get any response. May be a tweet involving all stakeholders including GOI, PMO, even Modiji may help to get some attention, until then you have keep trying or just hope VFS and NY Indian consulate will just do their job
Did police verification happen for you ?
Few suggestions:
Post your issue to Madad portal so that MEA becomes aware the chaos. Also tweet Dr Jaishanker.
Post about VFS delays on various platforms such as Better Business Bureau. They seem to be riding on lot of fake reviews.
