Can anyone please post the different VFS status we expect to see so that we can understand where the application is , I received email today with the same ref number and I am able to check the status which says " currently under process at VFS centre"
my application was delivered on Nov30th.

Looks like the fedex tracking had a different entry (for the same tracking number). Possibly because they sent the passport back in a different package. But I received my package today.
I have applied for renewal at SFO consulate.
My docs were delivered to VFS on 19th Nov (per FedEx tracking). However I still havent received any acknowledgement via email from them.
When I try to track the status on VFS website, it shows the following:
Your application is currently āon holdā due to certain deficiencies. Please check your email for more details and send the requested documents to the VFS Indian consular application Centre where you had submitted your application
Since I havent received any email from VFS, I am not sure what docs I am missing.
Is there anyone else who is in the same boat and hasnt received any acknowledgement yet.

Look in your junk mail - type in VFS Global- thatās how I found my email.
Not every one gets the Email for some reason. I tried to look thro all the folders and no luck and called the customer support and they do not have any info as well. Looks like their systems are not very stable.
if you already responded to their query, do you mind sharing how long did it take for them to reprocess your application.
I actually contacted the Consulate and explained my situation, They emailed VFS to accept my application with supporting docs and affidavit already sent with application .From Friday to date - VFS not yet removed my application from hold. Will contact consulate tomorrow.

Yea, its not there in junk as well.
I guess I should now contact the consulate directly since there is no response from VFS.

Yesterday, the fedex status updated and it got delivered on today. Their mail regarding passport dispatch came on Saturday, but actually they didnāt do anything for 2 days(may be due to the weekend). Instead if they send the dispatch email when they actually dispatch, that would avoid all confusions.
I think you may also get fedex status updated soon.
Does anyone know how long vfs waits for additional/missing documents to be submitted?
Finally, I have received the renewed passport.
The timelines for minor applicant Tatkal application. Total 20 days including shipping.
11/18 - Application sent via Fedex to SFO
11/19 - Fedex delivered the application in the SFO address
NOTE: It will take few days for them to update the application received status. Tracking application status will showing ERROR till that time
11/23 - Confirmation from VFS (We have āReceivedā your Application and your Application is now āUnder Processā at ICAC in Consulate General of India, SFO)
11/24 - Sent to Embassy ( Your Application has been āProcessedā at the ICAC and āIn Transitā to the Embassy for decision making.)
12/03 - Received email from passport.admin@passportindia.gov.in (Initiation of Police Verification Request)
12/04 - VFS email notification(Your Application has been reviewed by the Consulate/Embassy name and is {ready for collection at the ICAC or will be dispatched within 24 business hours }.)
12/05 - VFS email regarding passport dispatch (We have āReceivedā your Application. Your document is dispatched via courier.)
NOTE: Donāt get panic when you donāt see any update on Fedex tracking page for few days. I got panic when I get this dispatched email from VFS and no tracking update on Fedex. But it will get updated in few days.
12/07 - Fedex notification on the package tracking
12/08 - Received passport via Fedex

Anyone applied for passport renewal at NYC Consulate and received it recently?
When did you submit your application ? Have you received any communication from VFS?
VFS received my application on 11/19. And about 10 days back the status changed to apllication on-hold due to missing documents but never received an email on what is missing. Following up with them ever since.
In the same boat. Submitted on 11/19. Status shows application is submitted, no change after. No response either on VFS portal or by calling customer service

@Aditya_Tuljapurkar yes, it took few days for initial confirmation for me. Here is the timelines for me. But it may vary based on the center or tatkal or normal application.
I submitted my daughters passport application for renewal , it reached them nov 24th according to fedex, i emailed DC embassy , they forward it to VFS team but i got a email from VFS saying they will check and update, No update from them, the status online shows invalid inputs, i try to email them daily but nothing is working.
