Not sure if somebody pointed the following related to the delay - noticed there is at least 48 hours delay after receiving the passport application. Just mentioning that to ease little bit on delays. Of course no account on longer delays

Hey all, I made a mistake choosing the wrong Police station and my police verification went to a police station that’s 30 km far from India address. any idea how can i correct it?
Is that in the Govt application form or VFS application form. We can not make any changes to be already submitted Govt application form. you will have to resubmit a new application and it’s complicated cos we need to pay the fee again and request for a refund for the previous application. I would recommend to reach out to VFS helpline cos at the end of the day they have the final say. I know their customer service is frustrating but that is the only option we have now.
Folllowing are the timelines & latest status on my son’s passport re-issuance application i have submitted to SFO processing center. Our address changed only in US. We didn’t request any change for our India address.
Dec 2 - Sent the completed application packet through FedEx to VFS, San Francisco
Dec 3 - VFS received the packet from FedEx
Dec 11 - Got an email from VFS that Emabssy is asking for “Bank Statement”. Called VFS customer care & asked to clarify if the request is for Bank statement from “US” or “India”. Customer care person said he is sending an email to embassy to clarify on the bank statement requirement + I asked him to mention there is no change in our Indian address. I have been asked to wait for 24 to 48 hrs to get response from embassy.
Today’s (Dec 11) email from VFS requesting “Bank Statement” :
We have “Recieved” your Application however we are unable to proceed with the application due to the following reasons:
1. Bank Statment : MISSING
What should you do next?*
Incomplete Applications: Please complete your application within 7 calendar days by sending “the above listed missing documents along with a printout of this email” to VFS India Consular Application Centre where you had initially submitted your application. You will need to use your own “Pre-paid” label to send the missing documents. Failure to complete your application as per the stipulated timeframe will result in returning your application unprocessed.
By the way, after today’s email from VFS, I am able to see the Tracking status working (using the Government reference number , the 20-200***** number)

Below is my timeline for passport renewal at NY ICAC
Application - Normal
11/07 - Fedex package sent
11/09 - Received by VFS
11/09 - Email confirmation of receipt from VFS
11/11 - Passport application along with fee details have been received. The same is under processing at the Embassy/Consulate
Same status is shown till now (12/11).
Sent multiple emails, raised PRAMIT requests, left voice messages and no update till now.
Anyone received their passports recently from New York Consulate ?

@msudevan I also experienced similar timelines as yours. Did any police verification done in your case? as per their email we were expecting that someone from police dept will come at the given Indian address and do the verification. but nobody came and we got the passport. So, just wanted to know what happened in your case?
Even, I am on same boat, I have applied passport for my Son and still the same status from 11/11 processing at VFS center.
I have emailed them 10 times, The latest reply from VFS on 12/09 stated - Your application process completed at VFS and headed towards INDIAN embassy, But i dont see this update in VFS nor in NY Embassy.
Please let me know if you guys get any uodate.
Check early next week . From other posts I have seen, it takes a couple of days for update of receiving by embassy . Check on government of India portal - VFS will have no further updates until they receive new passport from embassy.
If not then reach out to embassy/ consulate of your jurisdiction
Email vfs and ask why their portal does not reflect that application is forwarded to embassy - they should update up to that stage
Hi, Yesterday Police verification is done at home town. Now status is changed to “Print has been initiated for passport.”
I am able to answer IHC questionnaire and then able to proceed to visa fee page and then able to proceed to New User Registration page. After entering all the details and hit submit, it routes me back to the same page for user registration and do not create a profile. I tried reaching out to VFS support folks and they have been of very little help except just replying that they looked at the issue and resolved it. Yet I am still unable to register.
I have used Google Chrome version 87.0 and also IE Edge
Please let me know if anyone has faced similar issue and any available resolution. Thanks in advance…
Applied for Tatkal for passort renewal with NY consulate with documents reached on Nov 30th. Got a confirmation on Dec 12th received the document and VFS has replied some missing documents to be sent. Till yesterday the status showed invalid number, Tatkal is claimed to be done in 2-3 days lol. VFS and Indian embassy NY is showing a glimpse of how babus in India setup in US lol. Don’t waste your money for Tatkal by paying 150$, use it for a better purpose or only if you have an actual emergency…
VFS must also take training from CKGS how to manage this whole things and really understand what customer experience means…
I am sure 100s of Indians in US are undergoing tremendous unwarranted stress due to lacksidical and inefficiency of VFS Global and the Indian embassy is hand in glove with them watching these whole drama of people being treated unfairly.

11/18 - Application sent via Fedex to SFO
11/19- Fedex delivered the application in the SFO address
11/24 - Confirmation from VFS (We have ‘Received’ your Application and your Application is now ‘Under Process’ at ICAC in Consulate General of India, SFO )
11/27 - Sent to Embassy ( Your Application has been ‘Processed’ at the ICAC and ‘In Transit’ to the Embassy for decision making. )
Note: After this stop monitoring your application on VFS site and use government site for tracking
12/08 email from : passport.admin- This is to inform you that Police Verification Request has been sent to the Police department (refer the following table for details) for your Passport Application (Re-Issue Passport Issuance under Tatkaal scheme) submitted with File Number
12/10 - VFS email notification(Your Application has been reviewed by the Consulate/Embassy name and is {ready for collection at the ICAC or will be dispatched within 24 business hours }. )
12/11 - VFS email regarding passport dispatch (We have ‘Received’ your Application. Your document is dispatched via courier. )
12/12 - Received passport via Fedex
Applied for passport renewal under takal with NYC reached on 18 Nov, after continuous follow ups and emails with support team they took their sweet time to respond and at times gave irrelevant responses which will annoy us, even after providing all the necessary data they will ask you again the same info you full name , gov ref no etc not sure if its their tactics to gain more time or may be they are trained so what ever email you receive give those stalk replies. After successful step of providing them the info they require , I got confirmation on 4Dec asking for a document and status showing on hold. immediately I sent the document again with ups and it reached them on 7Dec since then again same drama , even after they received no more confirmation or change of status . again the support drama started even after providing the proof of document received by them they ask us what is the tracking id of the document very annoying. its like all the Indian applicants are at the mercy of these folks. very pathetic services. Awaited for their reply.
@sspforever yes, actually my father-in-law enquired about this verification in the nearest police station and they did verification over the phone and he send my daughters birth certificate and my wife’s aadhar copy via whatsapp. On the same time I got email notification from VFS
Did you get this resolved? I am trying to do this from my kid and I am hitting the same problem. It looks like this has been happening since Nov first week but some people were able to proceed. Can you please ping if you are able to resolve?
