Documents for VFS: I’m trying to renew my passport under normal process
No change in any details (name, DOB, Place of birth, Parent’s name, address etc.). All the passport details remain same.
Do I need to send birth certificate/school leaving certificate as well ?
@Protyush_Sahu I sent a self attested copy of my birth certificate along with aadhar and PAN card. Wouldn’t hurt for you to send it as well.

There is no need to send “birth certificate/school leaving certificate”.
Just submit the docs listed in check list.
1.Make sure all info is correctly spelled as per the prev passport.
2. Make sure you download latest copy of check list and use the templates listed in check list
[I see they are updating checklist doc]
3. as mentioned earlier : any update from VFS Global donotreply@vfsglobal.com is most accurate & latest

I just got confused with an email from info.ihcusa@vfshelpline.com that said i should send return envelope. An email from donotreply@vfsglobal.com asked only for couple of documents which i have sent it separately, they did not ask for envelope… So just confused. I want to see if anyone dealing with SFO have actually received their passport without sending a return envelope.

For sure, i will update as soon as i recv my passport or updates in between i get.
Just send the docs requested by [donotreply@vfsglobal.com] & wait for 2-3 days and check the status

Thanks for your reply, I tried both VFS and Passport ARN reference number, it always shows ‘Invalid Input’.
I am also in the same boat. But I got the registration done by selecting Minor under 18 years and when I went to create a new application I got the same issue for my son who is minor. The service that I selected was “Passport going to expire - Up to 18 years of age”. So not sure how to proceed now. Any idea how to move ahead?

@akhil.6605 you got use govt reference no from the receipt. however this tracking will work only after a day or two of VFS receiving the packet.

Hi All, I was filling the SELF SWORN AFFIDAVIT FOR INDIAN ADDRESS. Do small few week trips for vacation to India count as being in India or outside?

@Akath @ani_ach seems we all are in the same boat. We have sent the application on or around 11/11 at VFS NYC under normal processing. Let’s post updates here if any progress is made, so others can take action accordingly.

Nope. Same Invalid Inputs. I believe it will start showing status only once we will receive initial confirmation email from VFS. Looks like our applications are sitting at VFS center and not processed or reviewed yet. May be they have given priority to tatkal applications because of backlogged. But wondering how they would know whether it is normal or tatkal unless they enter the details in system… Again, just guessing game.
I finally got an email this morning saying that my application has been forwarded to the embassy from NYC VFS center!
